Balaclava

I knit this Balaclava for my husband to wear this winter, when he is walking our dog Elvis. It gets so very cold here in South Dakota in the winter. Some times it is 30 degrees below 0. I know they don't look very fashionable, but I my knit one for myself in pink. I am so sure that it will keep my face and neck warm.

Helga Folk Mitten

I have designed another warm, and Beautiful Folk Mitten. I have given this mitten a Scandinavian name Helga, that means prosperuos, successful. I really love the color combination in this mitten. I used Knit Picks yarn for this mitten Wool of the Andes in the colors Violet, and white. I also used Knit Picks Andean Treasure which is 100% baby Alpaca, and so very soft in the color Wild Rose. I am very happy with this mitten design. :)

This pattern can be found at http://www.freewebs.com/folkmittens/

Brookings Art Festival

I went to the Arts Festival in Brookings today, and had a very nice time. I got two of my very favorite things while I was there. First I got a very cool Elvis ring. Rock and Roll!!!! Then I got some very cool hand spun wool. It is gray South Dakota wool, that is over dyed in a garnet color. I haven't decided what I will knit with it yet. Probably a pair of mittens or maybe some felted slippers!

Matt has a green thumb

This is Matt's corner flower garden. All of these flowers came up from seed. Either Matt planted the seeds, or the flowers seeded themselves from last year.

The Julius House by Charlaine Harris

The Julius House by Charlaine Harris is a light Prime Crime Mystery. A nice light summer read, about a lady named Roe Teagarden, and the wedding present she received from her very rich husband. The Julius House, and the adventures she had learning about the former owners of the house.

WIP

I have a WIP to show off today. This is the scarf that I am knitting with the yarn that Karen sent to me. It is Jagger Spun yarn in the color Aegean Blue. I just love this color, and I think that this will be a beautiful scarf when it is finished. It is 22 inches long right now. I really don't know how long I will make it. Maybe 5 or 6 feet long. I wanted to knit the Tiger Eye scarf, but I am not a very good lace knitter. YO's and ssk, and k2tog always get me messed up. So I decided on a simple Feather and Fan pattern. I am using a size 5 needle. I also have a new mitten design OTN but I won't show that off until it is finished.
