Casey and Grandma

Casey and I had a wonderful weekend. We baked a Snicker Bar cake. If you want to eat a rich, chocolaty cake I suggest that you bake a Snicker Bar cake. Yum. YUM. We did put chocolate frosting on ours, and I used a Devils Food cake mix instead of German chocolate. Eating a piece of this yummy cake almost is like getting a chocolate overload. Just the way I like chocolate cake.

Snicker Bar Cake 1 German chocolate cake mix1 package caramels (Kraft)1 stick of oleo or butter1 Tbsp. Skim milk3/4 cup chocolate chips1 Cup chopped peanuts - (I used lightly salted.)

Mix cake according to directions on box. Pour 1/2 of the batter into greased 9" X 13" pan. (I think the cake mix recipe states to only grease the bottom of the pan .. check it.) Bake 20 minutes at 350'F.

Melt caramels with margarine/butter and milk in pot. Pour over the baked cake. Sprinkle chocolate chips over cake. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. DOT with remaining cake mix on top. Bake an additional 20 min. at 350'F. Remove from oven. Does not need any icing.

We also made an Amish Noodle Casserole. It is a very simple, very tasty casserole.

Noodle CasseroleBrown 1 pound hamburger, season to taste. Cook 1 pound noodles, then mix in 2 cans cream of chicken soup and a little tomato juice to noodles. Mix with hamburger and put in greased casserole. Line top with cheese, put in oven long enough to melt cheese.

Casey played paper dolls a lot. I so enjoyed watching her play paper dolls. I used to play paper dolls when I was a child. :) I spun some wool on my kick wheel. We walked my dog Elvis, and just had a very enjoyable weekend. But then any time that I spend with my Granddaughter is so very enjoyable to me. :)

Niddy Noddy

Now that I have a Little Meggie kick wheel, I have decided that I need a Niddy Noddy. One of my Dear knitting friends sent me this link on how to make a Niddy Noddy with PVC.
http://www.doctordirt.com/blog/niddy.html So yesterday my Dear husband and I went to the big city to buy supplies for my Niddy Noddy. We got everything that we needed to make this Niddy Noddy for $1.93. And it only took Matt about 15 minutes to make it for me. Thank you Matt!!! You are the best!!!

ELVIS

My husband and I usually have a lunch date every Thursday. This week for some reason, we decided to go out for Dinner on a Wednesday evening, instead of our Thursday afternoon lunch date. Maybe because my sister called me and told me that she had a buy one get one free coupon for Dinner at the Fryn Pan that would expire on Sept 30th. If I wanted the coupon I could have it and enjoy a free meal. That is my husbands favorite kind of meal. Free. Any way after our wonderful buy one get one free meal, we decided to do a bit of shopping, you know get a few groceries, and maybe some shampoo. So off we are headed to Wal Mart. We get into the store, and both get a cart and go on our merry way shopping. I don't have anything thing in mind that I want to shop for. And you know what, when I have nothing to shop for is usually when I find the very best things. Well that happened to me last night. I was drawn to the toy department in WM. I don't know why, I don't need any toys, my children are all grown up and don't need any toys. I have one Granddaughter, she doesn't need any toys either because she is the most spoiled little girl on the planet, and probably already has every single toy that WM has to offer. Any way I am walking down the puzzle isle, out of the corner of my right eye I spy an ELVIS puzzle. I turn my head so that I can get a closer look to make sure that I am seeing what I think that I am seeing. Sure enough I was seeing a 1000 piece ELVIS puzzle. My heart starts to race, I am sure that my blood pressure is rising, because I could feel the blood pulsing through my veins. I reach up to the very top shelf of the puzzle isle and get my Elvis puzzle, and immediately start doing the Happy Dance. So picture this a 53 year old women jumping up and down in the Toy department at WM with an Elvis puzzle in her hands, and a HUGE smile on her face. So very excited about her latest ELVIS find. I immediately put my Elvis puzzle safely into my WM shopping cart, and start searching around WM to share my AMAZING ELVIS find with my husband. That is my story and I am sticking to it!!!

Mother Marion's Magnificent Spinning Machine.

We went on a small vacation. My Little Meggie came in the mail while we were gone. The first thing that I did when I walked in the door, was open my package, and take out my Little Meggie. It is a kick wheel. And I LOVE it. I sat and spun yarn most of the evening last night. And it is the first thing that I did this morning when I opened my eyes. It is soooo much easier then a drop spindle. I am still getting the hang of using it. but I can see this Little Maggie becoming my Best Friend!!! Yes I LOVE it that much!!! I order my Little Maggie from here http://www.heavenlyhandspinning.com/e-commerce-solutions-catalog2.html

Fyen Folk Mitten

I love the color combination in this mitten. I used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in the color Stream for the background color of the mitten, and I used Knit Picks Bare yarn that I first dyed with beet juice, and then over dyed with orange kool aid. The pattern for this mitten can be found here http://www.freewebs.com/folkmittens/patternpage4.htm

The worsted weight yarn used in this mitten, will make it a very warm mitten, for the cold winter months ahead!!!
